A New Shopping Holiday in 2020

Apparently a group of big box retail insiders are banding together in an effort to save the holiday shopping season in the time of Covid.

“10/10” is what they are calling it. It resembles China’s Singles’ Day, which is held on Nov. 11, aka 11/11, and is now the world’s biggest shopping event.

The timing of this new shopping holiday is no coincidence. The e-commerce juggernaut, Amazon, recently just announced its “PRIME DAY” dates which are mid-week following October 10th. Also, as the holiday shopping season nears, shipping delays could arise due to the volume of customers opting to shop online. With 2020 proving disastrous for retailers, this group wants to push it forward and elongate the season to relieve pressure on shipping times and production.

Ironically, 10/10 is also another shopping holiday. Shift10 Day was created to encourage shoppers to shift 10% of their spending into their local economies. It started in 2016, as an online campaign aimed to build awareness for the shop local online movement. Big Box stores dominate the landscape daily and during the holidays, but they can’t provide the same personality or satisfaction that shopping with a small business can.

When you buy local, it stays local. Here are a few benefits of shopping local online & in-store all year long:

  • Local businesses pay local taxes. When you spend money with us, your sales tax stays in our community and helps fund things like public education, parks, street improvements and more.
  • Shopping local provides store owners the potential to create local jobs. Small businesses have added 8 million jobs to the American economy since 1990. People are the best investment we make at Eagle Eye. Our offerings are designed to help you build the skills and connections you need to move forward in your career and commerce.
  • Local businesses care about providing unmatched customer service. When you shop with us we are genuinely happy to assist you and provide excellent service in-store or online.
  • Local businesses support Local Nonprofits. As a locally owned, small business, we do our best to plug in and give back as much as we can.

Eagle Eye will be having deals each weekend in-store during the month of October alongside our Mini Food Fair on Saturdays. Starting in November Black Friday deals will be popping up throughout the month so stay tuned to our social media accounts for when they launch. Most of our deals will also be online, brand’s permitting, to allow safe shopping opportunities. We will continue to offer curbside pickup indefinitely.  With the launch or our new site, we now offer economy ground shipping at a lower rate as well as FREE SHIPPING on qualifying orders of $100 or more. Several of our customers have also already taken advantage of their new account coupon and our new pay with PayPal option at checkout!

As always, Eagle Eye Outfitters will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. Our early morning Black Friday, Cyber Monday, & Giving Tuesday plans are still in the works and we hope to provide more details as they become available. Sign up, if you haven’t already, for our mailing list to stay up-to-date on upcoming Holiday plans.
