Eagle Eye is so excited to be a sponsor of the 2018 Run the Circle event! Dothan’s Run the Circle, Half & 5K event, will take place on Saturday, October 27. The event will take place exactly where it says – on the circle. Dothan is famous for having the first “ring road” in the United States. Alabama State Route 210, aka Ross Clark Circle, was completed in 1958, and it just so happens to be the perfect distance to host a half marathon! Here is a breakdown of the two races that will be taking place:
- Half Marathon: Saturday, October 27. Starts at 7:00 a.m. Due to traffic, there is a hard cut off of 3 hours for the Half Marathon, and it will be enforced in 45-minute increments at approximately 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 portions of the race.
- 5K: Saturday, October 27. Starts at 7:15 a.m.
The start of both races will be at 2214 Ross Clark Circle in front of Ollies. The finish of both races will be at the intersection of Mauldin Drive and the Ross Clark Circle access road. To register for one of these races, visit the event’s website here.
Go “Run America’s First Circle” and earn yourself a Golden Peanut medal. Why a peanut medal? Because Dothan is the Peanut Capital of the World, and the Runner Peanut is the most popular peanut grown in the Wiregrass area. For more information on this wonderful event, visit the Run the Circle website, or the Run The Circle Facebook Page. This event will be presented by Fortis College, benefiting the Dothan Police Foundation.
As a sponsor, we are providing all runners with this awesome drawstring bag at packet pickup, which can be used for gear check the day of the race. It even has a place for you to write your bib # so you know which bag is yours.
Running in races as we mentioned above require a lot of endurance, patience, and strength. While pushing through the race might be difficult at the time, the end goal is extremely rewarding. Training for these types of events is absolutely necessary. The North Face has a plethora of resources available on their website to help prepare runners for whatever adventure they will embark upon. Some of the tips include topics like the training required for running different courses, the nutrition that runners should indulge in, and the prevention that runners should take in order to reduce injuries. Training before a race is highly encouraged, and proved to be very beneficial for runners.
Training is, of course, very important for runners, but so is the training gear that runners will need for before and during the race. Let’s take a look at some running products that we offer:
