Something Special for Veteran’s Day

Veteran’s Day. A time to reflect on the nation we love so dearly, a time to appreciate the freedom we have in this beloved country; but most importantly, a time to say “thank you” to the countless Veterans across the nation who have served our country throughout the years. Veterans have sacrificed so much in order for all of us to obtain freedom and rights. Many Veterans have sacrificed time. Time that could be spent with their families, or friends. Time that could be spent doing a million other things, but they chose to spend their time fighting for all of us to live in freedom. Veterans have also sacrificed their lives. Going into unknown territory, fighting with known enemies, and being subject to side-effects from the trauma they have experienced are all extremely huge risks on their lives. Most of us could never imagine what all veterans have experienced. We are beyond thankful for each individual that has served, is currently serving, or plans to serve in the future. We also extend our gratitude and thankfulness to each and every military family.

What exactly happened on Veteran’s Day? On November 11, 1918 an armistice between Germany and the Allied Nations came into effect; therefore, giving November 11 the name of Armistice Day. This day was originally intended to honor Veterans of World War I, but after World War II the Veterans service organizations urged Congress to change the word “Armistice” to “Veteran’s”. Congress made this change in 1954, and November 11 became a day to honor all American Veterans, whenever and wherever they served. President Wilson summed up what Veteran’s Day is all about pretty well. President Wilson said that Veteran’s Day should be a day “filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory”.

To honor all of our Veteran’s, and to express our appreciation and gratitude for them, Eagle Eye Outfitters will be offering a 20% off discount with a military ID on November 10, 2017 and November 11, 2017. Coupons, and other items already on sale cannot be combined with this discount. Thanks again to all those that are serving, or have previously served our country. You are our heroes.
