As 2016 comes to a close, are you looking for one last shebang for New Year’s Eve that can include your entire family? A New Year’s Eve event has been desired by Dothan residents for many years, but nothing had come to fruition until this year.
For many years now, different cities and states have enjoyed New Year’s Eve traditions to celebrate – the Atlanta Peach Drop, the Mobile Moon Pie Drop, the Miami Orange Drop, the Panama City Beach Ball Drop, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, drops a wrench, Temecula, California, drops a bunch of grapes, and Las Cruces, New Mexico, drops a chili pepper and finally, Boise, Idaho drops a potato.
Drum roll…and finally, own very own Wiregrass New Year’s Eve tradition, Dothan has the Peanut Drop!
The New Years Eve Peanut Drop will take place in front of the clock tower at the intersection of Troy and Foster streets in Downtown Dothan. It will be the last of a series of events downtown and will occur just before the stroke of midnight.
The Wadlington Green Area on North Foster Street will have a “Family Fun” Area set up from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
For those earlier risers and kids, their will be a Balloon Drop at the corner of Foster and Troy just before 9:00 PM.
LIVE music kicks off at 7:00 pm at Pioneer Park with Festival the vendors and food trucks set up.
So gather up your friends and family and enjoy a night out downtown Dothan to ring in the new year. Be sure to check back here New Years Day to see a nice new years surprise from us!
